Reconciliation demands clear direction, focus and ongoing commitment.

Reconciliation is an ongoing commitment reflected in the relationships we build, the opportunities we create and the way we work on Country. Guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan, we are strengthening respect, participation and partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities and businesses.

OUR RECONCILIATION JOURNEY

From Reflect to Innovate.

We are proud to abide by our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) as we continue working towards Icon Group’s vision for reconciliation.

Icon Group is devoted to creating a positive and inclusive culture where current and future Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples can proudly and unashamedly represent their authentic identities.

We are committed to ensuring our people recognise and appreciate the histories and cultures of local First Nations peoples and Country, strengthening the relationships we have with the communities and land in which we operate.

Our Innovate RAP

Turning commitment into action with our Innovate RAP.

Icon Group is proud of our achievements to date through our Innovate RAP journey. Since 2017, we have been committed to reconciliation, moving from the Reflect RAP into the Innovate RAP level.

We understand that reconciliation demands clear direction, focus and ongoing commitment. Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, certified by Reconciliation Australia, provides Icon Group with a structured and established framework to formally address our commitments to Indigenous reconciliation.

Our commitment includes 72 actions across 4 key RAP areas:

Relationships

Building and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations.

Respect

Deepening understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, peoples and Country.

Opportunities

Creating meaningful opportunities through employment, professional development, business participation and project delivery.

Governance

Providing the leadership, accountability and structure required to turn our commitments into measurable action.

Our RAP Working Group

From Reflect to Innovate.

Championed by Icon Group’s Senior Management team, our RAP Working Group includes employees from across Icon Group member companies. The Working Group brings together executive and employee representatives, with 30% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives and 70% non-Indigenous representatives.

Alongside the work of the RAP, our teams participate in NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week, helping build understanding, awareness and engagement across the business.

Who we are

Icon's Innovate RAP artwork, featuring a wedge-tailed eagle over meeting places connected by the Yarra River

A story of connection, culture & Country.

Our Innovate RAP artwork was created by proud Wurundjeri Traditional Owners and brothers Ashley Firebrace and Alex Kerr.

Alex and Ashley’s design celebrates the relationships represented through Icon, Minicon, Kajima and Barpa. Four meeting places connect with one another and lead towards the centre circle of the artwork.

At its centre, gum leaves represent the Traditional Owners of Melbourne, the Wurundjeri people. Light and dark blue rivers flowing through the artwork signify the Yarra River, connecting through to Icon’s head office and surrounding projects.

“Creating a RAP is a significant step towards reconciliation and makes a genuine impact on Indigenous communities. What made me even more proud was carrying out the RAP’s objectives by ensuring Indigenous businesses are involved in our building projects, upskilling our people, and sharing our culture and practices.”
