Built on safety. Defined by quality.

The way we build is grounded in disciplined planning, uncompromising safety, quality and strong partnerships. Our teams combine experience, clear systems and practical problem-solving to manage complexity, reduce risk and create greater certainty from early planning through to handover.

Safety

Building Safely.

Our commitment to safety in the construction industry is not merely a duty but the foundation of our culture.

At Icon safety is an accepted part of every person’s role and it shows in our performance. On all projects a Project Safety Management Plan (PSMP) is prepared conforming to the requirements of the Company’s ISO 45001:2018 and Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner Certification.

Preventing incidents before they happen.

At Icon, safety prevention is part of our everyday working practices. Site teams put our ‘safety first’ policy into action on every project through careful preparation, awareness, training, hazard identification and ongoing monitoring. Every employee is responsible for protecting their own health and safety, as well as the safety of those around them.

Rather than simply recording injury frequencies and time lost, we focus on reducing unsafe acts and encouraging safer behaviours. This proactive approach helps minimise the risk of workplace incidents and lost time injuries (LTIs), supported by a safety management system built around systematic risk identification, management and prevention.

Accredited safety systems.

Icon has achieved ISO 45001:2018 Accreditation for Occupational Health and Safety as well as Office of Federal Safety certification. We have a recognisable safety culture which fosters a belief that we can build projects safely without incident or injury. To support this positive culture we use a robust safety and risk management system which drives continual OHS improvement.

Our safety initiative:
Plan, Prepare, and Proceed.

Icon’s “Plan, Prepare, and Proceed” program minimises the risk of safety incidents and dangerous events. Relating to the stages found in any single construction activity, all site teams and subcontractors are trained to proactively recognise potential hazards.

We do not “Proceed” on-site unless we’ve clearly prepared via our three-stage process to negate potential hazards, control risk, and eliminate danger.

Quality

Building Quality.

Quality that saves time, money and energy.
A robust focus on quality saves both our team and our customers time, money, and energy.

Our code of “Living Quality” challenges all staff to live and breathe our highest quality work ethic in every aspect of the construction process. Our subcontractors and design partners are key to our success, and we encourage the same solutions-based approach from our supply chain.

Using technology to improve quality.

Our unending aim is to search for new methods and technologies to boost productivity and reduce error. Icon has set itself apart in the industry by adopting Visibuild as our preferred Quality Control software platform.

This state of-the-art technology provides our teams with:

  • visible project insights directly from the field;

  • full transparency of data; and

  • the ability to remotely monitor project performance and progression.

Icon has clarity and pinpoint accuracy on where Quality Assurance (QA) is across our entire range of building operations at any single moment in time.

Our quality framework.

Our teams are proud to stand behind our final product. We achieve exceptional quality standards via our ISO 9001:2015 certified Quality Management System, and through balanced, transparent collaboration with client, project, and subcontractor teams, of which are all driving for the same result.

Identifying issues early. Getting it right.

Visibuild helps Icon identify quality issues earlier, reducing post-contract rework and creating a searchable project history through thousands of verified quality checks. This gives teams greater visibility of subcontractor performance, strengthens trade accountability and helps prevent corners from being cut.

That focus on eliminating error is reinforced through the Get It Right Initiative (GIRI). Icon is the first organisation in Asia Pacific, and the first Australian construction group, to adopt its training principles, helping teams improve productivity, quality, safety and sustainability while challenging issues once accepted as industry norms.

Quality training reducing error before it grows.

Icon’s quality culture encourages teams to proactively report non-conformances and “press pause” when a concern emerges, even during the intense delivery pressure that can come at the end of a project.

Addressing issues at the source helps prevent them from becoming more complex and costly to resolve later. This proactive approach to error reduction is reflected in the positive feedback Icon receives from clients.
